Cookies
Only what signing in and paying need
No analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising tags. Every cookie and everything kept in your browser is listed here by name.
Reading the site
Reading these pages sets nothing. No cookie, nothing kept in your browser, and no third-party script that would do either. Fonts are served from this site rather than from a font network, so loading a page does not tell anyone else you visited.
Cookies
Our cookies are set only when you sign in, are sent only to our own sign-in service, and cannot be read by any script on the page.
- dc_refresh: Keeps you signed in to your account. Sent only to our sign-in service, never readable by any script on the page. Lasts: 7 days, renewed while you use your account; deleted when you sign out. Who: Everyone who signs in.
- dc_device: Remembers a device you chose to trust, so two-factor sign-in does not ask for a code on it every time. Lasts: 30 days. Who: Only if you tick to remember the device.
- dc_staff_refresh: Keeps a member of DeskCaller's own staff signed in to our console. Lasts: 12 hours at most. Who: DeskCaller staff only.
- __stripe_mid, __stripe_sid: Set by our payment provider, who take card payments for us, on the pages where you pay or add a card. They help stop card fraud. Lasts: A year, and 30 minutes. Who: Only on the payment pages.
Kept in your browser
Some things are kept in your browser’s own storage rather than in a cookie. They never leave your browser unless the line says so.
- deskcaller.signed_in: Whether you are signed in on this browser, so the menu shows Dashboard rather than Log in. It holds no personal data, only a yes. Lasts: Until you sign out. Who: Everyone who signs in.
- deskcaller.push.*: The address your browser gave us for notifications, so we know it is already registered. Lasts: Until you sign out or turn notifications off. Who: Only if you allow notifications.
- Notification storage: Kept by the notification service we use, to deliver notifications to this browser. Lasts: Until you turn notifications off or clear your browser. Who: Only if you allow notifications.
- deskcaller.signup-email, deskcaller.signup-plan, deskcaller.signup-promotion: Carry your email address, the plan you chose and any promotion from one sign-up step to the next. Lasts: Until the tab is closed. Who: While signing up.
- deskcaller-viewed: Marks a tab DeskCaller staff used to view a business, so it does not open their own account by mistake. Lasts: Until the tab is closed. Who: DeskCaller staff only.
The assistant on this site
Opening Ask DeskCaller connects your browser to our voice provider for the conversation, and asks for your microphone only if you start a call. Nothing is loaded for it until you open it. What happens to what you say is on privacy.
Why there is no banner
The law asks for consent before setting anything that is not strictly necessary for something you asked for. Everything above is needed to sign you in, take a payment you started, or send the notifications you allowed, so there is nothing to ask. Anything that was not would need your consent first.
Clearing them
Signing out deletes the sign-in cookie. Your browser’s settings delete the rest; you will simply be asked to sign in again. Questions to contact@deskcaller.com.
